Four real-life Mowgli children were found in a suburban area in Moscow.
According to reports, four neglected Children all under nine were found at an apartment and they were fed by foods collected from local rubbish bins. None of the kids had been registered at birth and had never been seen by a doctor or attended a kindergarten or school.
Their date of birth is unknown although their 8-year-old sister, Sofia, was registered when she was born. Because of their sad and cruel life, they were rescued and taken away from their mother, Inessa Kuznetsova, 32, who was in college, and grandmother, Galina Kuznetsova, 66.
Kuznetsova claims she had no time to register the children or take them to doctors, kindergarten, or school. After media reports, Inessa Kuznetsova and Galina Kuznetsova tidied the flat before showing it to the journalist.
The Police officer who rescued the children said they lived in a flat full of rotting garbages and in a socially dangerous condition. Police said: “They had no food except moldy bread and were exhausted and dirty.”
The officer continued: “The smell in the apartment was terrible. The children were peeing in pots that nobody cleaned. From the food, we found only bread with mold and a few spoiled apples. The girl, aged eight, not only does not know the alphabet but also cannot name colors.”
“She seems to have frozen in her development at the age of a four-year-old. All the children have speech impairments. They are not accustomed to hygienic procedures and are afraid of water. They cannot use a fork or spoon, and they think the most delicious food is a simple bread,” the officer added.
Neighbors already alerted the authorities and they said that the grandmother regularly rummaged for food in rubbish bins. Polina Obruchev, one of the neighbors said: “She was looking for food for the whole family.”
Russian media dubbed the children “Mowglis” due to the feral conditions in which they were forced to live.
Ksenia Mishonova, Moscow region children’s ombudsman, said that the children were neglected with underdeveloped speech and had no beds.
Olga Fedosseva, Moscow’s Department of Guardianship head, said: “The children are very neglected, according to psychologists they are lagging in development. They have very poorly developed speech, years behind where they should be.”
Kuznetsova’s family had moved to Ekibastuz three years ago from a small village and rented the apartment while the father carried out odd jobs. The four children were sent to orphanages but are now together in a foster family.
