A young teenage boy has reportedly passed away under the most tragic circumstances in Long Island, New York.
Sources from local media outlets identified the victim as 13-year-old Tyler Phillips who reportedly jumped right in front of a moving vehicle in an attempt to save his younger sister’s life.
The incident was believed to be a horrifying hit-and-run accident and since then, he’s been labeled as a hero by so many people.
Last Wednesday, Tyler and his sister, who also happened to be 13 were on their back home. They chose to walk back after playing at a children’s park in Coram.
But at about 7 pm in the evening, the duo was caught in the middle of a horrifying car accident. The car reportedly approached them from the back side and ran directly into them as described by witnesses located at the scene.
Despite it being the evening hours, the sister named Krystal told the police that the car approached them from the back side and it didn’t have any lights on. Moreover, the same was mentioned by the victims’ family friend Steffani Campbell, who was on the road at the time. She saw the horror unfold before her eyes.
The sister recalled the horrifying moment when her brother went flying into the air in the middle of the road. On that note, she called up an ambulance and they told her to give CPR and that was it.
Both kids were immediately rushed to a nearby Stony Brook University Hospital. While the girl named Krystal sprained her arm, her brother died. And she was horrified to learn that.
The paramedics had informed the mother that her son’s brain was not functioning and it was most likely the possibility that he was dead.
