A mother is sharing her absolute horror after recently joining Metaverse where she was virtually assaulted by three men.
According to local media reports, the 43-year-old mom spoke about how she was s*xually harassed by three male avatars that had male voices and made an attempt to grope her avatar. And just in case that wasn’t frightening enough, they also tried to take her images too.
Nina Jane Patel says that as she tried her best to get away virtually, she could hear them yelling at the top of their lungs the following: “Don’t pretend like you did not enjoy it” and “Go rub yourself off the photo now”.
The incident reportedly took place last year but the mother says she’s sharing her horrifying experience now so that others can be aware and also so this issue can be highlighted to the respected authorities in charge.
The post was posted on Medium where Nina recounted the entire episode as an absolute nightmare while being a beta tester on the virtual reality platform Horizon Worlds. This was originally created by Meta, which is the new name for the previous organization called Facebook.
“It was such a horrible experience that happened so quickly and even before I could think about placing the safety barrier in place,” the mother recalled.
She was referring to the safety feature known as Meta’s Safe Zone where users are given the opportunity to block such awful interactions with others.
Just one month back, the company had spoken about how one unnamed woman had come forward with such harassment complaints and how she had been virtually groped on their platform.
At that time, the mother who hails from London had chosen to post the tale on Medium but now she feels the time is right to go bigger and louder so that it’s publicly discussed.
