A 52-year-old mother was left heartbroken after he found the lifeless body of her 16-year-old son who was shot by his 15-year-old brother.
According to the Daily Mail, Elise Enders Thompson was the first on the scene of her son’s tragic death.
She reportedly found her son James dead in the bathroom of their home in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Horrified neighbors said the mother did not even turn into her driveway as she rushed into their home.
Her 15-year-old son Thompson massacred his victims with a shotgun, targeting his brother first before going on a shooting spree that killed four others and left two others injured.
He hid inside a building and was later found with a gunshot wound to his head.
He remains in hospital and if he survives, he will be charged as an adult.
The small community gathered outside Beacon Baptist church for a candlelit vigil.
Pastor Tim Rabon led the prayers and recognized the neighbors, friends and acquaintances of those who were killed, injured, and the gunman himself.
“All of us have been affected in some way,” he said.
“By these tragic acts, these violent acts and we are all probably asking questions that start with one of two words, “How?” or “Why?”
“We are gathered here to seek answers, not the sort of answers given by politicians or offered by the news media [but those provided by] a God that wants to help us,” the pastor continued.
Candles were lit on the altar to represent the five victims who passed away.
Prayers were also said for the two injured, one remains in critical condition.
Thompson’s other victims were Nicole Connors, 52, Mary Marshall, 35, Susan Karnatz, 49, and off-duty police officer Gabriel Torres, 29.
