A family of four were all killed in an accident after their daughter, 17, fell asleep behind the wheel and drove off a cliff.
Dad Calvin ‘CJ’ Miller, 36, took his children from their Washington home to see his father, who is in hospice care in Idaho.
But the family of four never made it to their destination after the teenage driver fell asleep and their car fell 30ft into a river, Idaho police said.
According to reports, Miller’s daughter Dakota was driving while his two other children, Delilah, 8, and Jack, 10, were in the back.
Their vehicle reportedly fell into the Salmon River and was found partially submerged in the water.
The accident report said: “Dakota drove off the highway, striking a large pile of rocks sending the vehicle airborne.
“The vehicle struck another large pile of rocks, flipping the vehicle over end and landing upside down in the Salmon River.”
Police believe water got into the car through a broken window and caused the family to drown.
Zella Blair, the mother of Delilah and Jack, said they were ‘my whole life.’
Speaking to KREM 2 News, she said: “I don’t know if I can get used to them not coming through the door after school and yelling for me again. They were huge. They were my whole life.”
She said that when she dropped the children off with their dad, she was not told that Miller wanted to take the three children to Idaho to see his father.
“I just dropped to my knees,” she went on. “I just started crying. I couldn’t believe it.”
Blair also said that her heart goes out to Miller’s girlfriend Amberlynn, who was a loving stepmother.
“I feel really bad for Amber though because she did lose all four people of her household,” Blair said.
“Even though they weren’t her blood kids. She was always really great to them. Calvin and Amber were always wonderful.”
