A mother of two young children was left fighting for her life after suffering countless wounds and cuts while trying to save her children from out-of-control dogs.
30-year-old Kirstie Jane Bennard from Millington, UK, was at her home with her 2-year-old daughter and 5-month-old son when the family’s two pit bulls suddenly became aggressive and started attacking the children.
As Jeff Gibson, the uncle of Kristie’s husband, now revealed, the mother intervened and fought the dogs for ten minutes in an attempt to save her children.
Sadly, both the baby girl and the baby boy were killed in the dog attack. As of this writing, their mother remains in critical condition whereas she had suffered countless abrasions and wounds as a result of her dogs’ bites.
“Just an update on my nephew and his wife. As of yet there are no funeral arrangements for the kids. Kirstie is still in the hospital with an uncountable amount of stitches and bite marks over her entire body including her face,” Gibson wrote.
“Both arms and legs are bandaged/wrapped up completely. As of now it looks like there isn’t any permanent damage other than a heart that will never heal.”
Gibson went on to call the mother a “hero” as he revealed the attack lasted for more than ten minutes during which Kirstie desperately tried to save her babies.
“Now all of us, family and friends, have to rally around both of them and show them how much they are loved. I don’t know if there can be a healing process but hopefully we can ALL find a way to cope with this tragedy,” he concluded.
While further details about the vicious dog attack are yet to emerge, both dogs have since been taken away by animal control. It is unclear whether they will be euthanized over the lethal attack.
