A mother of two children from Wisconsin has reportedly passed away after suffering severe injuries while trying to save her son from a brutal dog attack.
According to local media reports, the mom passed away after nearly eight days when the family dog tried to tear into her young son.
35-year-old Heather Pingel who hails from Bowler died from kidney failure and damage to the lungs. Meanwhile, her arms also had to be amputated after the giant dog viciously attacked both her and her child at the start of this month.
The victim was immediately rushed to the nearby Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she was being treated and looked after under strict observation, considering the nature of her horrifying injuries.
Her son named Damian was also attached in a violent manner by the family dog who suddenly went out of control. He also suffered great injuries, requiring at least 70 stitches to help close up the wounds on his leg.
At the moment, little Damian is recovering at home, unaware that his mother who tried to save him, has now passed away, unfortunately.
“I want the world to know that she passed away as a hero,” explained her sister Shannon Pingel. “I absolutely hate the fact that it happened but I’m more than grateful that she saved my little nephew. She is the best mom and she did everything for her little babies,” the sister revealed in a heartbreaking tone.
The sister also shared how the mother loved her son so much and when he was born, it was like she was joined to him by the hip. “He was the ultimate mommy’s boy and for us, she will be forever missed.”
