A young mother-of-five tragically passed away after getting involved in a bizarre accident in downtown Los Angeles.
At around 3 am on Saturday, first responders rushed to the northbound 101 Freeway in downtown LA after reports of a young woman falling off a party bus and getting struck by an oncoming vehicle.
The woman was later identified as 29-year-old Heather Garcia who was on a hired bus with her friends and family after celebrating her 30th birthday when she tripped and fell onto the freeway.
It has since also come to light that the young woman, who was pictured smiling from ear to ear just hours before the incident, was a mother of five young children and a wife to US Army veteran Rafael Corral.
“They went out, got the party bus and based on the information I got, she was dancing and she fell … and that was it,” Juan Garcia, the victim’s heartbroken brother, told KCBS.
Juan also explained that his sister fell onto the freeway after the door of the bus opened when she tripped and slammed into it.
“I don’t know how the door opened. Nobody knows how the door opened. The door shouldn’t have opened up,” the brother added.
Speaking out about the horrific accident was also Garcia’s husband, Rafael Corral, who revealed that his wife and her relatives were being responsible by hiring a service vehicle rather than drinking and driving on the day they celebrated his wife’s 30th birthday.
“I’ve seen some crazy, horrific things in Iraq, and to see it happen to your family… it shouldn’t have happened,” the grieving husband expressed.
In his GoFundMe fundraiser, he added: “She had a huge heart always lending a hand to anyone who needed it.
“She was a great mom always taking care of our children. She loved our kids and she lived to take care of us. She was my best friend, my rock, she kept it together for me and our kids.
“I feel lost without her. We had so many plans and now I am left with so many questions and an extremely broken heart.”
