A mother whose daughter was nearly killed by a “crazed” dog has spoken out about the ordeal and recalled wrestling the dog to save her child.
32-year-old Amy Hobson and her 4-year-old daughter, Luna-Ann Forsyth, were helping the mother’s friend carry groceries to her house when they were attacked by a “known” and “trusted” American bulldog.
According to the distraught mom, she and her daughter were assisting her friend when the bully suddenly jumped on her daughter and knocked her to the ground before biting at her face.
“I was out shopping with the owner of the dog on April 6. And then we came back from shopping. I helped the owner get the shopping in the house. The dog was upstairs. He came down, I think just to see who was in his house,” Amy recalled.
“He came to me so I fussed him. Luna put her arm out to stroke him just as she always has done. And then he literally pushed her to the floor, got on top of her and just went for her face.”
The mom went on to admit she did everything she could to get the dog off her daughter after the animal began biting her face.
“Luckily I did get the dog. I punched him. I kicked him. I grabbed and twisted his ears. Thankfully he did let go,” Amy said.
After the incident, Luna was rushed to the hospital where she received forty stitches. She also had to undergo plastic surgery on her face.
While Luna will likely bear the scars from the horrific dog attack for the rest of her life, she was lucky to have her mother protect her from a much worse outcome.
