A mother-of-four suddenly died on Christmas day while her daughters were unwrapping their presents.
According to reports, Ashley Stanik informed her children’s father, Kane, that she needed to lie down as she wasn’t feeling well.
But while her children aged 4, 8, 12 and 17, were opening their gifts that she had bought and placed under the Christmas tree the night before, she tragically died.
Ms. Stanik’s sister-in-law, Cassandra, said that there were no signs that she was sick.
In an interview with the Courier Mail, she said: “There was no indication that there was anything wrong, which makes it even harder to comprehend.”
Cassandra also shared that the mother-of-four bought the gifts on Christmas Eve and had a busy morning the following day.
“She had been up for a couple of hours in the morning, but went back to sleep to see if she could sleep it off,” she continued.
“My brother, Kane went in to wake her around 2.30pm, but it was too late. She had already left us.”
The devastated children are now with their father but Mr. Stanik cannot afford to pay for the funeral expenses as he is receiving a disability pension.
Cassandra set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to pay for Ms. Stanik’s funeral.
“(We are) wanting to raise money for funeral and help her 4 (sic) children, sadly she left us on Christmas Day,” she wrote.
“They (children) are left to say goodbye with no one knowing how to pay [for the] funeral and how much help these children are going to need to some what (sic) get back to normal.”
