A mother and her unborn baby died unexpectedly after complications that arose from a common illness.
35-year-old Laura Maree Clanchy was a proud mom from Brisbane, Australia, who succumbed to her battle with the flu and pneumonia on July 17.
Just weeks before her passing, Laura lost her unborn son Finn to the same illness. At the time of Finn’s death, the mother was 32 weeks pregnant.
According to the reports, Clanchy, who was also a mother to son Hudson, was admitted to the hospital in June after complications resulting from the flu.
In the following weeks, the mother developed pneumonia and an infection that made her lose one arm and both of her legs. The doctors also told her that her unborn son needed to die for her to have any hopes of surviving the illness.
Unfortunately, both Finn and Laura succumbed to the unforgiving symptoms less than a month apart.
“It is with a broken heart and deep sadness that I post to inform you that our beautiful Laura Maree Clanchy grew her wings on the 17th July to join and hold our baby Boy Finn which grew his wings on June 23rd,” Clanchy’s partner, Brad Davies, confirmed in a tear-jerking statement.
“The fight Laura and Finn endured was due to complications with Influenza A and Pneumonia which ultimately resulted in Baby Finn giving his life up at 32 weeks gestation so his amazing mumma could have the best possible chance of surviving her own.
“Although as odds continued to stack up and all that could have went wrong, did, Laura continued the fight with courage and pure strength that I am in total awe by.”
Following the saddening news, friends and relatives spoke out to pay their tributes to the late mom and owner of ELK Aesthetics.
“Laura was the most genuinely kind, funny and beautiful person who has touched so many hearts. My heartfelt thoughts are with you and your families,” one woman wrote.
“Laura was an exceptional person whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all her knew her.
I was honored to have met her and know her.
Her cheeky smile and our belly laughs whilst injecting me then telling me to sit still, she was a character, one of a kind. Her memory will forever be cherished,” another mourner said.A third expressed: “Everyone loved her. She was beautiful inside and out.”
Our thoughts remain with Laura’s loved ones during this challenging time.
