A mother from Nebraska has reportedly been arrested by the cops for delivering her baby on the sidewalk and then abandoning her son in the freezing cold.
Sources claim that the woman was identified as 27-year-old Trinity Shakespeare who was arrested immediately on Tuesday in regards to a felony charge relating to child abuse, right after she was released from a hospital, following the incident that took place on Sunday.
The Omaha police confirmed in a statement to the press how they found out from their sources about a mother delivering a child on the sidewalk and then choosing to walk away.
The infant lay on the roadside in the freezing cold, shivering and crying helplessly. Thankfully, he was rescued by a number of witnesses who happened to spot the newborn child.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby local hospital and given immediate medical treatment. He is expected to survive as revealed by local media outlets.
Cops say that they were responding to one intersection located in the southeast Omaha region, at about 10 am in the morning. Their check was in relation to the well-being of a female citizen who was later identified as Shakespeare.
She had reportedly given birth on the sidewalk and then abandoned the child in the freezing cold as she swiftly walked away.
Later, she was discovered by cops at her residence, which was about a block away from her residence as reported by a recent police report by Omaha World-Herald.
Cops claim that the temperatures during that time were freezing and the witnesses were forced to cover up the baby to general some heat.
Despite being in a critical condition, the baby is doing just fine while the mother is in jail and charged after consultation for child abuse.
