A missing mother-of-five from Maryland was found dead on the Bel Air hiking trail of Ma & Pa Heritage Trail.
Rachel Morin was reported missing on Saturday evening after she failed to return home from her walk on the trail some 45 miles north of Baltimore.
After the disappearance, a search for the mother-of-five and fitness enthusiast was launched.
On Sunday, one of the volunteers, Michael Gabriszeski, discovered the woman’s body in one of the drain tunnels just off the trail where Morin was last known to be.
According to the Native American tracker, whose stepdaughter was friends with the victim, Morin’s body was completely naked upon discovery.
“Cecilia [stepdaughter] was the first person to see the body. She was hyperventilating really, really bad. And then the police told her to sit down,” Gabriszeski told DailyMail.com.
“When she sat down, she realized she was sitting in a big pool of blood.”
Speaking of Morin’s body, the tracker added: “She was laying on her back, fully naked, and she had brutal head trauma… it looked like her head had been smashed in with a rock.
“There was a 15 to 20-foot blood trail. So, it looked like she had been beaten and dragged into that position. It looked like (the killer) was trying to erase her identity. The right side of her face was gone.”
Another source told the publication that the injuries to the victim’s head were severe.
Meanwhile, the police continue investigating the case and searching for the suspect behind the horrendous crime.
“If you were on the Ma & Pa Trail on Saturday, or near the trail or trail heads and took photos or video, we are asking if you would please share them with investigators,” Harford County Sheriff’s Office requested in a statement.
“There could be something helpful in one of your photos that might bring us one more piece of the puzzle. As of this morning, we have already received nearly 90 tips from concerned community members in reference to the murder of Rachel Morin.”
