A 16-year-old girl who went missing on Saturday was found dead at a park near her home.
Amber Gibson, 16, was a bright young lady from Scotland who was reported missing by her family on Saturday morning after she failed to return to her Hillhouse home.
On Sunday morning, following an extensive search for the teenager, Amber’s body was discovered at Cadzow Glen park.
Amid the investigation, the police have obtained shocking evidence that led the authorities to the arrest of the girl’s 19-year-old brother, Connor Gibson.
Appearing in the Hamilton Sheriff Court, Connor failed to enter a plea after being charged with his sister’s murder, obstruction of justice, and sexual offences.
Following the grisly turn of events, the girl’s family members have spoken out and paid touching tributes to the 16-year-old.
“My beautiful sister, words can’t describe how heartbroken we are you are gone,” Amber’s older sister, Lisa, wrote in her post.
“You were our little ball of ginger light from the beginning and your smile lit up the room. Your singing was questionable lol but it was always your favorite thing to do. We love you Amber, always.”
Meanwhile, the girl’s other sister, Laura, promised to love her sibling forever as she said she wishes she could have protected her.
Following the grim news, social media users rallied on the internet to pay tributes to the young girl and offer condolences to her family.
“This picture is how I remember Amber, a gorgeous girl with that cheeky smile, thinking of you all at this sad time,” one person wrote after the family shared photos of the girl.
“So sad thinking of you all, I can’t begin to imagine your pain,” another wrote.
