A 14-year-old boy is believed to be in ‘extreme danger’ after he vanished wearing a ‘disturbing’ t-shirt with handwritten messages reading ‘I’m a liar’ and ‘cheat’.
Scottie Dean Morris was last seen on E Indiana Avenue at around 8:30 pm on March 16.
An alert by Indiana State Police said that the teen has blue eyes with brown hair, is 5ft 4in tall, 150lbs, and was “last seen wearing black shoes, red and black shorts and a white T-shirt with writing on the front.”
Police Chief Jay Turner told 21Alive that Scottie’s parents, Felicia and Brian Morris, forced him to wear the shirt to punish him.
“The shirt, it was quite unorthodox, kind of disturbing, and we’re looking into that.”
The Indiana Clearinghouse for Information on Missing Children and Missing Endangered Adults said in the alert: “He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.”
A photo of the boy was also shared by Indiana State Police.
Officers started searching for Scottie on Thursday night then released a missing person alert the next day.
On Facebook, police said that “we currently have over 100 volunteers out searching for Scottie Morris, which is so amazing and we are very grateful!”
Police also said that two boats were sent out to search the river. Two bloodhound units and two infrared drones were also sent in from Grant County.
On Sunday, authorities said via WLWT that they would not be setting up a search party “because we will have helicopters from the Indiana State Police using their infrared cameras.
“We ask that if you continue to search on your own today, please refrain from wooded areas, tree lines, rivers, etc as this will only hinder the investigation while they’re in the air searching.”
