Miss Alabama Zoe Sozo Bethel has died of brain injuries at the age of 27 after a mysterious accident.
Her grieving family announced the saddening news on Facebook, writing: “Our beloved Zoe Sozo Bethel passed from this life into the next as a result of succumbing to her injuries.”
She represented Alabama in the Miss for America Strong pageant, which honors single women.
Bethel’s family also said that she was a political commentator for RBSN, a conservative media company that covered the rallies of former President Donald Trump.
She also worked for the anti-abortion group Students for Life and Project Veritas.
“Today we are praying for VICTORY for those without a voice in overturning Roe vs Wade,” she wrote on Facebook.
“I decided to choose life over terminating the innocent life God blessed me with (My daughter),” she continued. “No matter how bad the situation may be, choosing LIFE is always the right choice.”
The family’s posts on social media said that she suffered ‘severe damage to her brain/brainstem’ on February 10 and was in a coma until February 18. The type of accident was not revealed.
“Zoe touched the hearts of many people,” they wrote.
Her family set up a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses, writing: “We know Zoe has many people who care about her and who would like a way to show support for her in any way they are able to.”
“All of your support will be greatly appreciated no matter how small, everything help!” they continued. “Everyone please keep her in your prayers. Thank you in advance for any and all support. We will be periodically updating you on Zoe’s status as soon as we receive any information from the medical professionals.
“We appreciate all of you and thank you.”
