Two mechanics have tragically died after they pulled over to help fix a bus on the Nambour Connection Road in Woombye, Queensland.
Lleyton Bartlett, 22, and his friend, 25, were mown down by a vehicle at about 3:30 pm on Thursday, leaving their families shattered.
Emergency services rushed the two to Sunshine Coast University Hospital but both tragically passed away.
Shane Kropp from Queensland Ambulance Service said to Seven News that the scene of the incident was ‘chaotic,’ and the young men had ‘life-threatening injuries.’
“The patients’ condition was what we call multi-system trauma,” he said. “Advanced care and critical care paramedics were on board and treated them accordingly.”
Bartlett’s grieving mother Lisa shared a tribute to her son on social media, writing: “Rest in peace my son. Until we meet again. We will hold you in our hearts until we can hold you in heaven.
“With all our love Mum, Dad & Jai Bartlett.”
Shattered family and friends flooded the comments section, expressing their condolences.
One commented: “Words can not express this news. With oceans and oceans of love and support at this sad time. What a beautiful young man.”
Another wrote: “I’m am so incredibly sorry, I can’t even begin to imagine what you must be going through right now. Devastated for you all & holding you in my thoughts x.”
Mick from the Maroochydore Hockey Club also shared a tribute to the 22-year-old.
“Our sincerest condolences go to the Bartlett family and friends after the passing of Lleyton in that tragic accident at Woombye,” he wrote. “Lleyton was a Maroochydore junior, senior, and Sunshine Coast rep player up to only two years ago.
“I know he had many friends among the club so let’s all look after each other.”
