Panic and screams filled the air this morning in Brooklyn as a gunman wearing a gas mask let off a smoke bomb, just a few moments before he began shooting randomly at people.
Commuters headed to work and school during the rush hour of the morning saw the most horrifying scenes as witnesses described it as absolute chaos.
The incident reportedly took place at about 8:30 am in the morning on an N train that was headed northbound. As the train pulled into its designated 36th Street station on Tuesday, screams filled the air.
Passengers revealed how they were trapped aboard the train until it reached its next designated destination.
So many of them were beyond petrified, and feared for the worst as the gunman randomly began to shoot in all directions.
A total of 13 people are said to be injured in the horrifyingly tragic crime but fears about an increase in casualties are rising.
Video footage from the incident is now making the viral rounds on social media where the passengers look more than petrified as they spilled into the platform, some every carried injured victims as they tried to look for help.
Meanwhile, the FDNY has released a statement about how they managed to locate a number of undetonated devices but they were all said to be smoke bombs.
As the gunman is on the loose, the NYPD is working hard to trace him down.
Moreover, he was described as donning a large gas mask and an orange-toned construction vest.
Some witnesses believed he was an MTA worker but then he dropped his smoke bomb all of a sudden and began to shoot wildly.
Graphic images on social media show so many injured victims lying on the floor with blood coming out of their legs.
As cops continue with their hunt for the suspect and relevant investigations, nearby elementary schools have been shut down due to security reasons.
