A 78-year-old Florida man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after shooting dead his neighbor’s son.
Edward Druzolowski of DeLeon Springs, Volusia County, stands accused of killing his neighbor’s son, 42-year-old Brian Ford, in front of the man’s eight-year-old son.
According to the reports, Ford was cutting branches from the trees on his father’s property when Druzolowski confronted him saying the branches he was cutting were actually on his land.
While holding his gun behind his back, the old man allegedly told Ford to “get off” his property to which the younger man responded by saying something along the lines of “mind your own business.”
As the argument escalated, Druzolowski pointed his gun at the father and threatened to shoot him. He pulled the trigger twice but nothing happened because he kept the first two rounds empty for “safety” reasons.
That’s when Ford approached the neighbor, prompting the man to pull the trigger for the third time and shoot the father in the chest.
After the altercation, 911 was called by the victim’s mother who told the police what had happened. In another call, Druzolowski’s wife confirmed her husband had shot the neighbor’s son but insisted he didn’t mean to.
“My husband took his gun but I think he meant to scare him but I think he killed him,” she said.
Unfortunately, Ford could not be saved and he was pronounced dead when the emergency services arrived at the scene.
“My fence is two feet inside my yard. So I go another two feet outside my fenced area,” the victim’s mother has since revealed.
“Ed kept pointing the gun at him [Ford’s son]. He said, ‘Shut up, kid,’ to him. And then Ed was pointing the gun at me. He was walking towards the fence line, and I backed up, and I was screaming through the yard.”
Druzolowski has since been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He told the police that he stopped talking to Ford years ago because of his alleged reputation of getting into trouble with law enforcement.
