A man has sparked a heated debate after he was kicked from Mall of America for wearing a religious shirt.
Paul Shoro, who is originally from Ethiopia, wore a fluorescent green t-shirt with ‘Jesus Saves’ and “Jesus is the only way’ inscribed on it when he visited the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
While strolling through the mall, the man was approached by security guards who allegedly ordered him to remove the shirt or exit the mall.
Shoro, however, insisted he would rather die or go to jail than take off his shirt and end his “request from God” to hand out gospel tracks to the visitors of the mall.
“Jesus is associated with religion and it is offending people. People have been offended,” one guard told Shoro.
“If you want to shop here you need to take off that shirt,” the same guard said.
Following the incident, the Ethiopian man revealed that he didn’t take his shirt off as he explained the reasoning behind his actions.
“He told me what to do. Go into the street and preach the Gospel. I ordered t-shirts. Everything I have is Jesus, man. Hallelujah!” he said in his YouTube clip.
“The Lord delivered me from the darkness. He anointed me and finally by the time I was in Washington D.C. he said ‘Hey son, I need you to go to Minnesota.’
“I started going to Mall of America and met tens of thousands of people but they stopped me preaching the gospel.”
Speaking of his controversial t-shirt incident at the mall, he added: “When I was asked to take it off I said I would rather go to jail or die than take off my shirt.
“Some people think we judge them but we don’t. We go out to preach and help these people. I was so nice to them. I know my purpose. I didn’t go there to fight.”
