A 31-year-old man tragically died after stepping outside his door while celebrating his new job with his friends.
Alex Murray from Lancashire was about to start a new job in Cleveleys when he tripped over a step outside the door.
Alex’s grieving family said he was ‘loved by everyone’ as tributes poured in for the ‘true gent loved by so many.’
Chris McKenzie, Alex’s heartbroken friend, said the 31-year-old was ‘a true gent that I am so thankful to have known.’
He also said that Alex would be ‘missed by many but I’m sure I can speak for everyone in saying he will never be forgotten!’
The inquest heard that he left the Moorgate pub at around 1 am on October 2. He was seen with two women getting into a taxi.
It is believed that he went to another pub before he arrived home at around 2:40 am.
A neighbor’s CCTV showed Alex walking towards his home in Blacburn when he suddenly disappeared. He was later found unresponsive by his mother.
In a GoFundMe page setup to help with funeral expenses, Ahis sister Vanessa wrote: “This year has dealt us some bad blows and I need your help. Alex was loved by so many so let’s give him the send off he deserves.”
Speaking to LancsLive, Vanessa said after the inquest: “He was loved by so many people. In Blackburn everyone knew him and I was known as Alex’s sister even though I’m older.”
Their mother also said: “He was over the moon about his new job. He’d found out earlier in the week and I can still see his face after he got the news; he was buzzing all week.”
