A father-of-five was mauled to death by a dog his family was looking after just days before Christmas.
55-year-old Adam Watts was a “kind and caring man” from Dundee, Scotland, who was attacked and killed by a bulldog in front of his son.
According to the reports, the man, who was dubbed an animal lover, worked at Juniper Kennels and Cattery, his family’s boarding kennels business.
On Wednesday, Watts suffered extensive injuries after being mauled by a bulldog in the middle of the day. While it is believed that one of the man’s sons witnessed the attack and attempted to help his father, it remains unclear what caused the animal to lash out.
“Officers received report of a man having been attacked by a dog in Kirkton of Auchterhouse around 1.10 pm on Wednesday, December 22,” Police Scotland confirmed in a statement obtained by MailOnline.
“Emergency services attended, however, the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Following the devastating tragedy that took place just days before Christmas, a source spoke to The Sun to pay a tribute to the dedicated animal lover.
“Adam was a kind and caring man who loved animals. For one of them to witness this and have to try and get help is stomach-churning,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the Independent Vets In Dundee & Angus recalled Watts as a hardworking man who “worked tirelessly” to help animals.
“Adam was the most caring man who went over and above in his passion for caring for animals, and worked tirelessly to help give some a loving future with a new family,” they wrote.
“Our heartfelt thoughts and deepest sympathies go to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
Our thoughts are with Watts’ family and friends during these difficult times.
