Man Is Left Fighting For Life Only A Day After Marrying His Wife Following Brutal Attack While On Honeymoon


A man who just tied the knot with the love of his life was rushed to a hospital after being attacked by a homeless man while waiting in a hotel lobby.

Larry Gilmore and Shalawrae traveled to Pittsburgh to celebrate their union when the incident happened.

Only a day after they got married, Gilmore was in the lobby of the Even Hotel waiting for the elevator when a homeless man, identified as Heiko Calhoun, suddenly attacked him.

Surveillance footage showed Calhoun approaching the newlywed before putting him in a chokehold and dragging him to the gorund.

According to reports, the 26-year-old culprit stomp on Gilmore’s back and face before stealing from his pants and pockets.

Heavily pregnant Shalawrae said: “I walked over to see what was going on and I found him in a puddle of blood.”

The husband was rushed to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

“Right now, he’s still in critical but stable condition. He’s intubated still and we’re hoping he can pull through,” she expressed.

Calhoun, who broke his parole, was arrested after the incident. He told officers that Gilmore had said something to him before he proceeded to attack him.

He is now held in Allegheny County jail on charges of attempted homicide, robbery, recklessly endangering another person, and aggravated assault.

Speaking to CBS News, the heartbroken wife said: “We want it (the hotel) shut down until they can ensure their customer safety because my husband is right now fighting for his life.

“I haven’t ate, I haven’t slept. This is taking a hard toll on me.”

The hotel released a statement after the incident, saying: “Our thoughts are with this guest and their family during this difficult time.

“We appreciate the swift actions by our hotel staff, the Pittsburgh police department and local EMTs who rendered aid to our guest. We will continue to cooperate with local authorities in their investigation, and any additional questions on this matter can be directed to the Pittsburgh police department.”
