61-year-old Mark Jones from Prestatyn, Wales, died in the hospital earlier this month after suffering a bite wound while playing with his dog.

For four days, the man ignored the wound thinking it will heal on its own. It wasn’t until he fell terribly ill that he finally south medical help.

Unfortunately, Jones’ condition had already deteriorated beyond repair at the time of his hospitalization.

“The process was so far advanced that despite the best efforts and treatment he died of cardiac failure,” Coroner John Gittins said of the suspected sepsis.

Paying a tribute to the former newspaper editor and the owner of a football memorabilia shop was his wife, Yvette Jones, who said:

“He was such a gentle, genuine, caring person and well-respected and loved by everyone who we came across.”

Mrs. Jones continued: “We went out for a couple of years, and then his work took him to London, so we split up. It was purely by chance that we got back together again, and we were together for 20 years and married for 18. It was a true love story, really.

“He used to walk Lili nearly every night. There used to be the excuse of, ‘We had to call into the pub so she could have a drink of water!’”

Paying his respects to the deceased man was also his former colleague Dean Jones who branded Mark as the “pillar of the North Wales media scene.”

He also called the victim of sepsis a “lovely bloke” and a passionate supporter of his little town.
