A former high school wrestling champ died at the age of 19 after getting involved in a horror jet ski accident.
19-year-old Daegen Vaughn was riding a jet ski on Weiss Lake in Alabama when he lost control of the vehicle and plowed into a tree along with his friend, 22-year-old Mason Sterner, who was riding in the back seat.
According to the reports, Vaughn was pronounced dead on the scene after first responders arrived on the scene. Sterner was rushed to a hospital in Georgia and is recovering from his injuries.
It has since been revealed that Vaughn recently graduated from Georgia’s Trion High School where he is remembered as a devout football player and wrestling star.
During his short career in wrestling, the teenager managed to secure over one hundred wins and became known as a standout wrestler state-wide.
“If I could go back I would hold you tight and never would let you go. I love you so much baby boy. My life will never be the same without you in it,” Daegen’s heartbroken mom, Taylen, wrote in a tribute to her son.
While the crash remains under investigation, dozens of the teen’s friends and relatives have spoken out to share their condolences.
“He was a team player who did whatever was asked of him and he always supported his teammates!!! Proud to have had the opportunity to coach Dago,” one of his coaches said.
“I am so saddened by this loss but so happy for the memories I have of this precious young man,” Daegen’s high school English teacher added.
Our thoughts remain with the young man’s family and friends during this challenging time.
