A young man tragically passed away in his sleep after a suspected heart attack following a night of binge drinking.
24-year-old Kier Jenkins was a doorman and a gentle young soul who was “kind to everybody” and was described by his friends as “the life and soul of the party.”
As an inquest heard, the young man died in September 2021 after a 36-hour party session involving alcohol and drug abuse.
According to the reports, Kier played drinking games with his friends and took cocaine before blacking out after downing nearly two bottles of gin.
Other partygoers then allegedly offered the 24-year-old some water and put him to sleep where he was snoring loudly until early morning.
At around 4.32 am, Kier’s friends checked on the man and found him unresponsive. CPR was performed on the scene but the man could not be saved. He was declared dead at the hospital after being picked up by an ambulance.
As further tests revealed, Jenkins exceeded the fatal level of ethanol in his system. Traces of cocaine and ketamine were also discovered.
Experts believe that the combination of drug and alcohol use might have resulted in a cardiac arrest and the patient’s premature death.
“He loved all our children and he would do anything for anyone. He had done so much for charity, he raised money for Mind, he was the type of person who would give you all he had left,” Kier’s sisters told the court.
They continued: “He had turned his life around, he was working as a doorman. He was a good person he would help anyone.
“He has left a huge hole in our hearts and all his friends. He was such a big person, he was so well known, once you had met him you wouldn’t forget him. He was the life and soul of the party, he was too big for this world.”
