Virgin Atlantic has decided to make history for the first time by taking part in a unique inclusivity drive.
According to local media outlets, the popular airlines have opted to remove gendered clothing regulations on all staff members. And that means each member is free to choose whatever attire best suits them.
But while the male crew members may be allowed to wear skirts, passengers are not happy. They feel the airline has plenty of work to do and hence should work on better shaping itself in other ways than this.
“How about focusing more on better customer service”- mentioned one furious viewer and just like that, many couldn’t agree more. Others felt that a lot more focus must be granted to passenger prices and an overall experience instead.
Now, the company says both plane crew members and even pilots will be able to select the uniform of choice. The selection for red was previously taken on by the females while burgundy was reserved for males. But now, no such criteria exists and everyone is free to do what makes them happy.
Women can wear trousers while men can wear skirts, the airline’s spokesperson mentioned. In the same way, the staff says it’s still in the process of providing plenty of options for its non-binary staff too.
Similarly, the airline is making plans to introduce pronoun badges in a bid to try and enable staff to wear uniforms that are a true expression of their real identity.
Virgin Atlantic says it’s honored to have paired up with the famous star from the Drag Race for this new venture. The whole idea is to reflect on the diversity of the workforce, it explained.
The company hopes this new change will render it the most inclusive airline of choice in the skies.
