Madonna has come under fire after being three hours late to the first US show of her Celebration tour.
The 65-year-old Queen of Pop finally kicked off her much-anticipated Celebration tour after months of health complications only to run very late on her first concert.
According to the reports, the show at the Barclays Center in New York City didn’t begin until 11 pm on Wednesday despite being scheduled for 8.30 pm.
Despite the long delay, however, Madonna managed to amaze her fans with a raunchy performance as she performed her 28-song setlist in a sold-out show.
Not everyone, however, was thrilled about the singer running so late and keeping her fans waiting.
“I don’t give a f*** if you’re Madonna, if you’re 3 hours late, you’re just f***ing rude,” someone complained.
“Concert supposed to start at 8:30. Madonna started at 11pm. Whole arena chanting bulls*** at her lateness. Great show but went way too late,” another fumed.
One fan expressed: “I love Madonna but it’s really f***ed up how she’s literally like 2 hours late for her FIRST show in the US.”
A fourth demanded a refund saying: “All my plans later that night went down the drain because of the delay. Who’s going to pay for the flight I missed? I want a refund.”
After the backlash, the People magazine quoted a source claiming that the delay was due to “issues during soundcheck that caused the schedule to get delayed by an hour.”
It was also revealed that at 8.30 in the evening, DJ Honey Dijon took to the stage to perform an opening act.
