The tragic massacre of Highland Park may be over but the aftermath is haunting dozens of families who lost their precious loved ones in a senseless shooting incident.
According to local media reports, one such case is of a young boy who despite managing to survive the terrifying tragedy, ended up losing both his parents. And that has left the child orphaned forever.
Now, authorities have revealed the young child’s heartbreaking words as he awaits his mom and dad, having no clue that they’re gone forever.
“Are Mom and Dad coming back soon?”- the child can be heard saying, leaving so many in his surrounding in tears.
Two-year-old Aiden McCarthy is believed to have lost both of his parents in the Highland Park parade shooting incident on the fourth of July, whose death toll has now increased to eight victims.
Little Aiden was found covered in blood from the site of the shooting, with his dead father lying above him.
Witnesses managed to retrieve the child from below his dad and offer medical aid for any wounds he had sustained. It is believed that various members of the community started to look after the child, moments after which he was kept under the care of his grandparents, Misha and Nina Levberg.
Now, there has also been a GoFundMe account set up for the young child which has managed to raise $2 million so far so that his old grandparents can take care of the child.
A total of people were killed in the horrific aftermath of the incident while nearly 47 people were injured when a young gunman opened fire on the crowd celebrating the 4th of July holiday, using his $800 rifle.
The gunman, Robert Crimo is believed to have later dropped the weapon and hid amid the crowd to prevent being caught. And right after that, he drove his mom’s vehicle to Wisconsin, where he planned on carrying out a similar attack, dressed as a girl.
