A couple who was reportedly sentenced to jail for ten years for abusing their 41-day-old son is now all set to be free.
According to local media outlets, the incident took place a while back where little Tony Hudgell was left with no legs because that’s how bad the abuse was when his own parents attacked him.
The helpless toddler’s legs were destroyed by 24-year-old Jody Simpson and her 47-year-old partner Anthony Smith. The couple was declared guilty by the court of law and given a ten-year-long punishment.
But now, news has broken out regarding the couple’s early release, leaving the community disgusted, outraged, and shocked beyond belief.
Seven years have passed since the incident and little Tony is yet to lead a normal life, being disabled without any legs. Hence, his adoptive parents are now speaking out against the matter, adding how sickened they are to learn of the entire ordeal.
The adoptive parents have previously campaigned against the decision and are continuing to do the same now as they believe it is wrong on so many levels.
“We believe such sick-minded child abusers deserve longer jail sentences but seeing this decision is just so heartbreaking and sickening for us”- Tony’s new mom Mrs. Hudgell explained.
As of now, the couple has only served just five years in prison, and hearing about the release has really raised so many questions on people’s minds as to why this was happening in the first place.
At that young toddler age, little Tony not only suffered from losing his legs but a series of other injuries that included broken fingers, toes, and ripped ligaments. In addition to that, he even contracted sepsis.
For ten days, he remained in that debilitating position and wasn’t taken to the doctor’s office. And that is what made his condition worse. This is why his adoptive parents and others want the court to rethink the move as they feel it can really go against other abusers known to be carrying out such behavior.
