A couple has reportedly been slapped with a decade-long jail sentence as a part of their punishment for dancing on the streets.
According to reports from local media outlets, the couple reportedly broke the rules in the country of Iran and opted to dance in front of a famous and iconic landmark.
That did not go down well with the authorities who blasted the couple with the mega punishment, leaving netizens in horror.
Iran is a purely Islamic state and follows Islamic Shariah law. Therefore, seeing such incidents arise in the country’s capital city of Tehran was not only shocking but also very baffling.
The couple mentioned that they were sentenced to jail this week after being flapped with the mega punishment that they didn’t see coming.
The duo are yet to be married and had big plans of tying the knot after recently getting engaged. But with such a harsh punishment arising, that does not appear to be taking place, anytime soon.
Sources from local media outlets claim that those who personally know the couple is protesting, calling it not only wrong but unfair on so many levels.
They have reportedly requested the authorities to take another closer look at the matter because this is just unbelievingly ridiculous, another mentioned.
The couple says they did nothing wrong, other than dance in a very conservative manner in front of the main landmark of the city.
The news is definitely mortifying for obvious reasons. It comes after another young woman was brutally punished for not donning the headscarf or hijab.
For this reason, she was arrested and taken into police custody. This is where it was speculated that she was tortured to death while the authorities refuted those claims. According to them, she passed away from a heart attack.
