Lisa Marie Presley was planning to start a grief podcast with author David Kessler, who helped her following her son’s death, before suffering a cardiac arrest on Thursday.
Kessler took to Instagram and revealed that he had accompanied Lisa Marie on her trip back to Graceland in Memphis to celebrate what would’ve been the King of Rock and Roll’s 88th birthday.
“She had countless invites for the weekend, but for her, there were only three important ones: being at her father’s birthday celebration, spending time at her son and father’s grave after the tours left Graceland, and meeting with a recently bereaved mother,” he said.
The author went on to say that Lisa Marie “tenderly talked” to his mother about what to expect in grief.
“That’s what interested her most these days, helping others in grief,” Kessler continued.
He also said that as he spoke with the late singer about the early deaths that plagued her family, she showed the place where she would be buried, next to her son Benjamin Koeugh, who took his own life in 2020.
“I said a long time from now and she said, ‘Yes, I have so much to do.’”
The author also said that Lisa Marie had become a grief expert after seeking help following the tragic death of her son.
“She was in my grief educator program and many who met her and chatted with her had no idea who she was,” Kessler wrote.
“To them, she was a mother whose son had died and wanted to turn her pain into purpose.”
Since Benjamin’s death, Lisa Marie started co-leading grief groups with Kessler and even planned to start a podcast to help others who are experiencing the same unbearable pain.
