Nicolas Cage has spoken out in a heartbreaking statement after the death of his ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley.
On Thursday, the 54-year-old singer-songwriter passed away at a hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home.
Hours after the only child of the King of Rock’n’roll was brought to the hospital in critical condition, Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla, announced her passing.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” she wrote.
“She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”
Since the tragic news, thousands of entertainment figures and millions of fans spoke out to pay their respects and recall the moments they shared with the ‘Lights Out’ hitmaker.
Paying his respects to the late singer was also Nicolas Cage who was briefly married to Lisa Marie from 2002 to 2004.
“This is devastating news. Lisa had the greatest laugh of anyone I ever met. She lit up every room, and I am heartbroken,” the Hollywood star, who was Lisa Marie’s third husband, expressed in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.
He added: “I find some solace believing she is reunited with her son Benjamin.”
The news comes as an agent of Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, revealed that she will be buried next to her son Benjamin at Meditation Garden in Graceland.
“Lisa Marie’s final resting place will be at Graceland, next to her beloved son Ben,” the agent confirmed.
