A woman has called out Leonardo DiCaprio and other famous, powerful men who date women decades their junior.
39-year-old Katherine Ryan is a Canadian comedian, actress, writer and presenter who lashed out at older men who use their fame to date younger women.
Calling the trend “gross” and “weird,” the mother-of-three named 34-year-old James Argent, who is dating an 18-year-old actress, and Leonardo DiCaprio, who recently came under fire after rumors that he was dating a 19-year-old model following a series of flings with women in their early 20s.
She also insisted she was fine with being the “poster woman” for calling out male celebrities who think it’s okay to go out with women decades younger than themselves.
“I don’t care at all about backlash or cancel culture. I do care about hurting people’s feelings, believe it or not. I know that James Argent has had some rough times and I don’t want to heap criticism on someone who’s vulnerable,” she said in an interview with MailOnline.
“But at the end of the day, I have somehow become the poster woman for rallying against grown men, powerful men, famous men dating teenagers. I didn’t choose that life, that life chose me.
“I don’t think it’s controversial to say that’s gross or weird and I’m very happy to continue beating that drum for as long as it takes.”
Katherine went on to say she’s not trying to change the men’s minds because she understands that the age gap can be attractive to many.
Instead, she issued a plea to young women she might be able to influence.
“I’m speaking to the young women because I happen to have the ear of a lot of teenage girls and young women,” she added.
“I look out at my audience and I have people my age, I have couples but I also have a lot of teenagers so even if one of them hears what I’m saying and goes, ‘Ew maybe that man is interested in me because he wants to boss me around or because women his age don’t talk to him, maybe I will give that a miss.’”
She joked: “I’m basically Leonardo DiCaprio trying to get to as many young women as I can.”
Katherine previously also took a swipe at DiCaprio on social media after the 48-year-old actor’s rumored romance with 19-year-old model Eden Polani.
“No crime just a creepy pattern,” she wrote under one post. She also quoted another tweet that read: “Not enough people are talking about Leonardo DiCaprio who is almost 50- and ‘getting close’ to a 19 year old teenage girl.”
