The mother of the late Leandro De Niro Rodriguez has spoken out and shared a tear-jerking tribute to her late son.
Drena De Niro and family, including Hollywood star Robert De Niro, have gathered at New York City’s Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel for a wake for 18-year-old Leandro who was found dead at a $1 million property on Sunday.
According to the sources, a white powder was discovered near the teenager’s body. His mother has since spoken out and claimed that her son died after ingesting fentanyl-laced pills.
The mother also issued a tear-jerking tribute in which she said her heart was broken as she promised to hold on to the memories.
“None of this is right or fair and my heart hurts in a way I never knew possible while still breathing and barely functioning. Leo my darling I love you today like the first day I held you in my arms,” she wrote.
“The same man that picked us up from the hospital when you were born drove us to the funeral home where I touched and held you for the last time.”
The grieving mom continued: “You were kindness acceptance and love and I can’t believe any of this is real YOU made everything bearable and every burden lighter. You didn’t deserve to die like this but I can only believe that God needed a strong powerful angel in their army.
“I’m holding you every second of every moment in my heart and memories until I’m with you again. My heart is broken forever. Me daddy and your family love you, I love I love you with every beat of my crying heart.”
Paying a tribute to the late teenager was also Robert De Niro who said the family was “deeply distressed” as he asked for privacy.
“We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo,” the actor said.
Our thoughts remain with Leo’s family during this challenging time.
