The grieving mom of 19-year-old Leandro De Niro Rodriguez has opened up and shared her son’s cause of death after he was found unresponsive at a $1 million apartment.
Leandro, who was the grandson of Hollywood legend Robert De Niro, was found dead at a Cipriani Club Residences apartment on Wall Street, New York City, on Sunday.
Sources have since the tragic discovery revealed that a white power was found near Leandro, suggesting that a substance might have played a role in his death.
The boy’s mother, actress Drena De Niro, has now spoken out and claimed that her son died from overdosing on “fentanyl laced pills.”
“Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him,” she responded to a comment asking for an explanation.
“For all these people still f**king around selling and buying this s**t, my son is gone forever.”
The shocking reveal comes while the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is yet to disclose Leandro’s official cause of death.
According to one source, the suspicious death remains under investigation and the Narcotics Borough Manhattan South was brought into the mix, implying that the authorities might be searching for the person who provided the teenager with the drugs.
“Fentanyl is in everything now, everything. Now people have low tolerance, that’s why they’re overdosing so much,” NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said while making an upsetting claim saying “98% of the drugs” in the Big Apple are probably laced with fentanyl.
Our thoughts remain with the De Niro and Rodriguez family during this challenging time.
