Kyle Rittenhouse has pulled out of his university following pressure from his peers following his acquittal.
18-year-old Rittenhouse, who has been acquitted of murder charges and found not guilty on all counts, is no longer enrolled in a part-time course he previously signed up for at the Arizona State University (ASU), documents reveal.
While the ASU spokesperson reassured the public that the university had nothing to do with the teenager’s decision, it has since been speculated that Rittenhouse had backed out after several left-leaning student groups called him a murderer and demanded he be banned from the university.
“Even with a not-guilty verdict from a flawed ‘justice’ system – Kyle Rittenhouse is still guilty to his victims and the families of those victims,” their letter read.
“Join us to demand from ASU that those demands be met to protect students from a violent blood-thirsty murderer.”
Groups, including The Arizona State University Students for Socialism, Multicultural Solidarity Coalition, Students for Justice in Palestine, and MECHA de ASU, also demanded the university denounce “murderer Rittenhouse” and “white supremacy” and set up a “multicultural safe space on campus.”
“Withdraw Kyle Rittenhouse from ASU,” their first demand read. The letter continued:
“Release a statement against white supremacy & racist murderer Kyle Rittenhouse. Reaffirm support for the multicultural center on campus as a space safe from white supremacy. Redirect funding from ASU PD to support the multicultural center and establishment of a CAARE center on campus.”
Despite pressure from the student groups, the ASU allegedly reassured the public that Kyle Rittenhouse could still seek admission and be processed just like any other student.
“Kyle Rittenhouse did not go through the ASU admissions process but was enrolled in two publicly available courses for this semester,” ASU President Michael Crow allegedly told Senator Kelly Townsend.
“University records show that he is now no longer enrolled, a status precipitated by his own actions. As a university that measures itself by whom it includes and how they succeed, should he choose to seek admission in the future, his application will be processed as any other would be.”
