Thanking Twitter’s new boss Elon Musk for his new $8 service that comes with a blue checkmark confirming one’s identity, Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse shared a post in which he revealed that he, too, has finally been verified after months of trying to get the badge.

He later added: “The comments from BIG MAD haters are pure gold. You must not have noticed the blue checkmark. I’m elite now!”

Rittenhouse responded to his critics after they called him out over the badge and accused the platform of treating him like a celebrity.

In a response to Tim Young saying “the only reason Kyle Rittenhouse wasn’t verified before was because the leftists at Twitter hated him,” the 19-year-old also confirmed that he had been trying to get the ‘verified’ badge for months.

While the controversial $8 service was received well by plenty of right-leaning users who previously felt suppressed on the platform, the verification badge didn’t come without major issues.

Due to its easy availability, plenty of users changed their names to those of various celebrities and secured the badges simply by paying the service fee.

One such user created a fake LeBron James account with a verification badge before joking that the NBA star was “officially requesting a trade.”

Another pretended to be former president Donald Trump. Before getting suspended, the user tweeted: “This is why Elon Musk’s plan doesn’t work.”

Rittenhouse’s verification badge comes weeks after the teenager started his own YouTube channel dedicated to guns.

“Join me in my journey to learn everything I can about new and vintage firearms and help to defend the Second Amendment,” the channel’s bio reads.
