Former cop Kim Potter reportedly broke down into tears on the witness stand as her trial for shooting and killing Daunte Wright kicked off.
After taking the stand on Friday, the ex-police officer relived the exact moment where she started to yell, “Taser! Taser! Taser”- and then shot Wright dead.
The incident that took place on April 11th at a traffic stop spiraled into absolute chaos while ending with how she grabbed the gun and began to fatally shoot the 20-year-old.
Potter’s voice began to shake as she struggled to let words out, adding how it was a huge and difficult task for her to prevent him from running away with his vehicle. “Everything just went so chaotic all of a sudden,” she revealed.
“Before I knew it, I just started to yell “Taser! Taser! Taser!”-she repeated.
But after uttering those very words in front of the jury, the accused covered her face with her hands and began to weep.
The former cop also shed light on how moment before the shooting took place, Sergeant Mychal Johnson and her trainee officer Anthony Luckey arrived to give her back up and they spoke to her about how Wright was under arrest.
Wright started to yell at that point and there was a struggle between him and officer Luckey, Potter revealed, and then she said things went chaotic and out of control.
“The driver struggled with the officer and tried to get back into his vehicle but it was all a huge struggle,” Potter kept on saying while wiping away her tears.
Right after that, she started to recount the events that took place after the shooting and how she began to cry hysterically for the shooting and would end up going to prison for this.
When asked to reiterate the incident again, she began to cry, adding how she didn’t remember anything else.
