Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has spoken out after a jury cleared him of all charges following a four-week trial in London.
The 64-year-old had tears in his eyes as he was found not guilty of seven counts of s*xual assault and two counts of other serious offences.
The claims reportedly occurred between 2004 and 2013, when the Hollywood star worked as artistic director at the Old Vic theater.
After 12 hours and 26 minutes of deliberation, Spacey thanked the jury.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, the 64-year-old said he was ‘humbled.’
“I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today,” he said.
“But I would like to say that I’m enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully, before they reached their decision.
“And I am humbled by the outcome today.”
Spacey, who described the allegations as ‘madness’ and a ‘stab in the back,’ also thanked his legal team and court staff.
“I also want to thank the staff inside this courthouse, the security and all those who took care of us every single day, my legal team Evan and Lucy for being here every day and that’s all I have to say for the moment. Thank you very much.”
Spacey has won two Academy Awards for his roles in ‘American Beauty’ and ‘The Usual Suspects.’ He has come back to acting after leaving ‘House of Cards.’
He starred in the Netflix series for five seasons but got fired over allegations of misconduct.
