YouTube sensation Keenan Cahil has died at the age of just 27.
The young man, who was best known for hilarious YouTube videos in which he was lip-syncing with celebrities such as Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, and Jennifer Aniston, died at a Chicago hospital on Thursday.
The sad news was announced by Keenan’s manager, David Graham, and reported by TMZ.
Cahil was previously diagnosed with Maroteaux–Lamy syndrome, a progressive condition that causes organs and tissues to become inflamed and enlarged.
According to the reports, the young man underwent open-heart surgery earlier this month to combat the unforgiving effects of his illness.
Unfortunately, he died just over two weeks after the procedure due to complications arising from the surgery.
“One week till open heart surgery. Wish me luck. Love ya’ll,” the video maker revealed in his post on December 5.
A week later, he came up with his final post that read: “For those who are asking. December 15th is the date of surgery.”
After Keenan’s passing, thousands of fans and celebrities alike paid a tribute to the young influencer and entertainer.
“Loved watching his videos, he was a true gem and will be missed terribly,” one person said.
“Core YouTube childhood memories from you. Fly free in the eternal sky,” another wrote.
A third expressed: “You were such a huge part of my childhood and I can’t believe you’re already gone. Way too soon, RIP.”
Besides running a YouTube channel, Keenan also appeared on the 2011 American Music Awards stage as he performed alongside David Hasselhoff.
