Kanye West’s wax model at Madame Tussauds has been removed from public view after huge brands cut ties with him amid his controversial remarks.
The rapper’s wax figure has been moved to an archive after Balenciaga, Gap, and Adidas severed ties with the 45-year-old following his antisemitic comments on social media.
A spokesperson for Madame Tussauds London said every person ‘earns their place’ at the museum and they confirmed that Kanye’s figure had been ‘retired.’
“Ye’s figure has been retired from the attraction floor to our archive. Each profile earns their place at Madame Tussauds London and we listen to our guests and the public on who they expect to see at the attraction,” the spokeswoman said.
Kanye, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, shocked the world with his antisemitic comments on social media, including claims that ‘slavery is a choice.’
He has lost many fans over the years because of his remarks, previously insisting George Floyd was not killed by former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin and died of a fentanyl overdose.
On Wednesday, Kanye was asked by Piers Morgan if he regretted his Twitter post. Still, he replied: “No – absolutely not, absolutely not … I fought fire with fire – I’m not here to get hosed down – that’s a different type of freedom fighter.”
He added: “I will say I’m sorry for the people that I hurt.
“I feel like I cause hurt and confusion, and I’m sorry for the families of the people that had nothing to do with the trauma that I had been through and that I use my platform where you say, ‘Hurt people hurt people,’ and I was hurt.”
During the past few days, Kayne’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her family have called for an end to the ‘terrible violence and hateful rhetoric’ towards Jewish people.
