An Australian singer-songwriter and actor Johnny Ruffo has passed away at the age of just 35.
The musician and former X Factor Australia contestant was well known for his single ‘On Top’ as well as his role as Chris Harrington in the drama TV series Home and Away between 2013 and 2016.
According to the young man’s representative, Johnny died at a Sydney hospital on Friday morning. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his loved ones including partner Tahnee Sims.
“It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny,” their statement read.
“Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, Johnny went peacefully with the support of some incredible Nurses & Doctors.”
The tear-jerking message continued: “He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. Johnny was very determined and had a strong will. He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.
“We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives. Rest easy.”
The tragic news comes six years after Ruffo was first diagnosed with brain cancer after paying a visit to the hospital over his migraines.
Later in 2017, the actor underwent surgery to remove his cancerous growth before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
While he went into remission in late 2017, Johnny’s cancer returned in 2020. Two years later, the singer admitted that he feared for his loved ones after finding out his disease was terminal.
Our thoughts remain with Johnny’s loved ones during this challenging time.
