Johnny Depp has once again taken a stand in his defamation trial against Amber Heard.
During the Monday cross-examination by Heard’s attorney, Benjamin Rottenborn, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was back on the stand as a series of old audio recordings were played in the court.
In one of the resurfaced recordings, Depp could be heard telling his ex-wife that there will be a “bloodbath” if he doesn’t walk away.
“Walking away is necessary, is necessary, especially between you and I. It’s of utmost importance,” he said.
“The next move, if I don’t walk away, it’s just going to be a bloodbath. Like it was on the island, it’s not worth it. Why be miserable, can we just have some understanding?”
After Heard reassured him she would prefer “walking away” over bloodshed, the actor added: “Then why has it (a bloodbath) been chosen so many times?”
Heard’s lawyer also noted that this wasn’t the first time the couple discussed a “bloodbath” during their conversation.
Back in March 2013, Heard received a text from Depp that read: “Just thought you should know there exists a book titled Disco Bloodbath, that’s all.”
Responding to the reference to a 1999 novel by James St. James, Amber wrote: “We need that book! Is it about last Friday night by any chance?”
Depp added: “How can you make me smile about such a hideous moment. Yes it is. Funny bi**h. I f**king love you, c**t.”
The court also heard a recording in which Heard accused her ex-husband of hitting her.
“I cry in my bedroom after I dumped you a week prior after you beat the s*** out of me. A week later you show up saying you want to say goodbye,” she told him. The actor responded saying: “I made a huge mistake. I won’t do it again.”
