Jeremy Renner has spoken out for the first time since his horror snowplow accident.
In a trailer for the much-anticipated interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer, the Hawkeye star admitted that he still vividly remembers the pain he suffered on January 1 after getting overrun by his massive, 14,000-pound snowplow while trying to help his nephew.
Though the Marvel actor nearly lost his life in the attempt to help his relative who was stuck in the snow, he insisted he would “do it again.”
The trailer also featured part of the police call in which the caller requested help saying a man got crushed by the machine while Renner could be heard struggling to breathe in the background.
Elsewhere in the interview, Sawyer went on to list some of Renner’s injuries including eight broken ribs in fourteen different places, a broken right ankle, a broken left ankle, a broken tibia, a broken right shoulder, a broken eye socket, collapsed lung, and more.
“What’s my body going to look like? Am I just going to be like a spine and a brain like a science experiment?” Renner recalled worrying after first realizing the severity of his injuries.
Breaking into tears, Renner also admitted he used sign language to say sorry to his family after landing in the hospital in critical condition.
Though his recovery is far from over, the 53-year-old is progressing faster than expected and is already able to walk with the help of an anti-gravity treadmill.
Speaking to Radar Online, an insider close to the actor previously admitted that Renner’s injuries were much worse than most people knew.
“The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury,” the source said.
“He knew he was in bad shape and that he might not make it out of this.”
