Jeremy Renner’s family has provided a health update after the actor’s freak accident involving a snow plow.
The 51-year-old Marvel star was rushed to the hospital on Sunday morning after suffering “extensive injuries” while using a plow to remove snow from his driveway.
According to the reports, the snow plow crushed the actor after getting out of control and running over him.
While Jeremy already underwent one surgery on Monday, his family now revealed that he is far from being out of trouble and has a long recovery journey ahead.
Though the actor suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” among other extensive injuries, he is currently conscious and able to talk, his family confirmed.
In a statement, the family also thanked the “incredible doctors and nurses” who are looking after the actor and the fans who showed a tremendous “outpouring of love and support.”
As of this writing, Renner remains in intensive care and is being prepared for a second major surgery.
According to the latest information, the actor’s snow plow ran over Renner’s legs some quarter of a mile from his Lake Tahoe house after its safety features had failed.
TMZ also reported, however, that the actor suffered severe injuries to other parts of his body than the legs.
“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” Washoe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a statement after the January 1 accident.
“Mr. Renner was the only involved party in the incident. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident.”
Our thoughts are with Jeremy and his family during this challenging time.
