Halloween actor James Winburn, best known for playing Michael Myers in the 1978 Halloween movie, has passed away at the age of 85.
He is believed to have died over the weekend from an undisclosed health problem but the news of his passing only emerged on Monday.
In the original classic film, Dr. Loomis shot Myers six times and he fell off the balcony.
James then came back as psychotic Michael Myers in the 1981 sequel and was credited for his impressive stunts in acclaimed movies including Glory and The Couch Trip, Escape from New York, Colors, The Night Stalker, and Tron.
Monster-Mania Con, which runs horror conventions, paid tribute after the star missed its 2022 event because of his health.
“Sad to learn of the passing of James Winburn today,” the company said on Facebook. “James was an absolute pleasure to work with and we had hoped to see him again for our show in Oaks, PA but sadly a health issue prevented that.”
“James was always appreciative of the Halloween fans and truly enjoyed meeting everyone. Our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and fans,” Monster-Mania Con added.
Monopoly Events, which featured the actor in its For the Love of Horror fan convention last month, took to Twitter and paid a heartfelt tribute to the star.
“We are extremely sad to learn of the passing of James Winburn, who joined us for @ftlohorror last month,” the company said.
