A Church located in the suburban part of Chicago has reportedly mentioned how it is fasting from whiteness during the holy season of Lent.
For those who may not be aware, the long 40-day-period precedes Easter and to hear such comments being made is beyond shocking to so many people.
The Church says any hymns written or composed by white composers would be excluded immediately from the program.
First United Church of Oak Park revealed the shocking news on its own website where he spoke about engaging in a mix of letting something go and then taking something major on.
“We hereby declare that in our worship services for the Lent season, we will bypass and forgo white people because we are abstaining from them this season. Our goal will be to include more and more African Americans and their spiritual traditions”- the church continued.
“We hope to see a great diversity this time around with South African tunes whose theme is about freedom. At the same time, we wish to see a number of native American traditions”- it elaborated.
For Lent, the church sent out a special prayer relating to the growth of the Christian community while putting forward their strive to stick to disciplines and unite as one.
Shockingly, many were appalled to see the ‘fasting from whiteness’ sign printed on the front of the building’s lawn.
The church seems to be standing true to its promise of evotionals for the fast by using its thoughts and reflection period.
Now, many are going about calling out the church for its racist and absurd behavior because they feel the religion does not teach discrimination on the basis of skin color and to fast from whiteness is one of the most ridiculous things they have come across.
