The youngest victim of the Walmart tragedy has recently been identified as a 16-year-old honors student.
According to reports from local media outlets, the student had recently taken up a part-time job because he wished to assist his loved ones with the financial crisis taking place at home. But little did he know that it would end up being the cause of his death one day.
Fernando Chavez-Barron was killed by Andre Bing in a store in Chesapeake in Virginia. The gunman also killed five more individuals before he turned the gun on himself and then died.
This young 16-year-old bright student was on the job to assist his mother and even brought on gifts with a paycheck.
Fernando and fellow colleagues were reportedly killed after the store’s own manager opted to open fire on them during break time, right before turning on himself.
A social media post on Friday revealed the true identity of the gunman, sources mentioned. Barron was reportedly in 11th grade when he had just begun this Walmart adventure but no one knew what that man was capable of.
Today, a GoFundMe page has been set up that has managed to raise a staggering $22,000 toward his funeral costs. Many who knew him on a personal level mentioned how he was this outstanding son and a great big brother. He adored playing with Legos, his family recalled.
Others couldn’t help but speak about how humble he was and hardworking too. His loss is not only being felt by loved ones but by anyone and everyone that came across him in their lifetime.
A candlelight vigil is being held today in remembrance of all the victims and to honor their services as they died while on duty.
