Hilary Duff has slammed Aaron Carter’s unfinished memoir which claims she lost her virginity to the singer when she was 13 and he was 12.
The actress called the publisher a ‘heartless money grab’ for releasing the tell-all ‘Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life.’
“It’s really sad that within a week of Aaron’s death there’s a publisher that seems to be recklessly pushing a book out to capitalize on this tragedy without taking [the] appropriate time or care to fact check the validity of his work,” the 35-year-old told E! News in a statement.
According to USA Today, the book about the late star has been in the works for over three years.
Author Andy Symonds spent time interviewing the singer about his experience in the music industry as well as further details about his life as a child star.
“To water down Aaron’s life story to what seems to be unverified click-bait for profit is disgusting,” Duff wet on.
“In no way do I condone shedding any light on what is so obviously an uninformed, heartless, money grab.”
It was in 2000 when Hilary and Aaron met as fellow teen idols and started dating, with the singer appearing on Duff’s popular show Lizzie McGuire.
They had an on-and off relationship until they finally ended their romance for good in 2003.
Aaron was also linked to fellow Disney alum Lindsay Lohan during their multiple breakups.
More than a decade later, the singer admitted that he still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart.
In 2014, the Dancing With the Stars alum took to Twitter and wrote: “Don’t be that stupid douche that loses the love of your life forever… Like me.
“I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to better myself to get back to her. I don’t care what ANY of you think.”
